Welcome to the heart of DogSwot, a place where passion for dog training and care transforms into a personal mission. I’m Sally Dodgson, your lead trainer, and the sole engine behind our tailored training programs and select range of pet products.
I believe in nurturing the special bond between dogs and their humans. My approach is rooted in understanding, patience, and the latest canine behavioural science to offer you and your furry companion a bespoke training experience that stands out in the field.

From Bulldog Lover to Canine Care Innovator
Originally from a community engagement and education background, working on offender programmes in both the public and charity sector, I found myself in a very high-pressure role, working long, unsociable and unplanned hours. At the time I had a 6-year-old bulldog called Martha, and I found it almost impossible to find a bespoke and flexible dog care service that could cover her unique needs and requirements.
The Birth and Evolution of DogSwot
DogSwot began as a high end, personalised daycare, boarding and walking service which soon had a team of 4 people covering over 70 dogs in West Yorkshire.
A Journey of Passion and Adaptation
When I lost Martha, I promised her I would rescue a bulldog next and along came my adopted Clarence, the dog that would shape and direct me in more ways than I knew possible. The dog with the highest needs: behaviour, diet, conformation, allergies. You name it, this guy had it all.
He was a massive challenge for me but my geek bone was tickled and a new passion ignited, the passion to educate myself and arm myself with knowledge to provide the best care and training I could to allow him to be the best dog he could be- I sought advice from trainers, behaviourists, canine physios, nutritionists… he even went to dog reiki!
I carried out elimination diets and focussed on providing a completely natural approach to his care in a bid to eradicate allergies, skin and digestion problems.
I committed endless hours to modifying his behaviour via balanced training methods and this is where the spiral began.
When covid hit, restrictions meant that the business had to slim down but this created a natural avenue to diversify.
DogSwot’s Eco-Friendly Evolution
During this time my second adopted bulldog came along, completing the DogSwot Family (or as we like to call it ‘The Management Team’)
