Manchester marathon 26 – and my 7th one in the bag!
It’s not often I say it but Sunday really was a day to be on the ‘wrong’ side of the Pennines!
The weather spoilt us, the crowd were outstanding and the organisation was impeccable.
Not my fastest time but one of my fav marathons.
I paced and fuelled well and went with the aim to enjoy the day out and that’s exactly what I did…. and no ‘wall’ which is a novelty!
Carter joining me at 13 was the icing on the cake ( it’s not a marathon without your best mate joining in)
That said, this year really was the hardest training block for me.
Wettest winter in years
Injury in January which felt like a massive step back
The joyous Economic crisis resulting lost training hours due to more work, missed strength work and gym sessions and running in a less than average pair of trainers ( )
(Let’s not even start with the the health issues that being a 43 year old woman brings either)
But I made it, I actually loved it ( well, about 80% ) and have raised a stack of cash for charity .
I’ve been left with some foot issues but a few weeks to recover and aim to make Leeds, or the half at least.
Thanks for everyone for the donations and support as always!
Still time to chuck a quid in
The running trainers aren’t at the back of the wardrobe just yet!
